Depending on the dominance of these doshas we get our physical and personality traits or rather called the ‘prakriti/nature ‘ of body. Prakriti or nature of body is classified into 3 categories namely – Vata, Pitta and Kapha and are compared to five energy sources: Air, Fire,Space,Earth and Water . VATA corresponds to space and air/vayu , PITA is compared to fire and KAPHA to water and Earth.  Identifying our body type and eating the food that is suitable for our prakriti helps to keep the body in balanced state and healthy.

Now we are clear on how to know your body type, lets also understand the science behind why you should know your body type.

All organs in our body, for example, the liver, the stomach and the heart are built up from a specific sequence of vibrations at the quantum level. In the case of a defect, these vibrations get out of sequence or are at imbalance. By knowing our body types, Ayurveda tries to identify the particular body’s tendencies to get out of balance. This balance can be restored to a great extent by eating proper food and doing suitable exercises. This gives better chances for staying healthy, fit and happy.
